It is all about the Internet, or is it? If you count experimental artists of a certain style from any one country, you wont end up with many - but networks can connect fellow artists from around the globe.
The artists participating in Canine Fragrance have met each other on different music bulleting boards and music websites. At a certain point it is hard not to notice that your fellow artists have something in common with you.
Canine Fragrance is the second collection from the Luumu Recordings collective. We wanted to make it different from the first one. The first idea was just to make a collection, but that was not enough of a challenge for us. So we ended up making joint album. Instead of tradition collection Canine Fragrance is an episodal soundscape. Unlike many compilation CDs, all material on Canine Fragrance was specially made for it. We decided certain themes and guidelines, one of them being "high frequences". In addition, although contributions by artists could be seen as individual works of art, here they were open for modification in final mixing phase done by OVO.
It was the network that connected the artists. It was also the network that was used to transfer each piece of work from place to place, from one continent to another. The next phase is to connect our audiences with this new recording. People who know OVO in the US will get a chance to hear about Trikband from halfway around the world. Fans of Andrey Kiritchenko may discover that they are also fans of his Finnish cohorts, Cytrus and Ihokas. Canadians will get to listen Sinebag and Toiminto while proudly exporting Finch Republic back to the Old World.
